  • Publisher: Scide AI — [Legal form, registered address, SIREN/SIRET, and RCS to be completed]
  • Hosting: Convex, Inc. — 2261 Market Street #4553, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA — convex.dev

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, creating an account on, or using Scide AI (the "Service"), you unconditionally accept these Terms of Service ("Terms") in their entirety. If you do not agree to any provision, you must immediately cease using the Service.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified by email or by a prominent notice within the Service at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The version in force is always available at this address.

2. Description of the Service

Scide AI is an AI-assisted decision-support tool designed to help researchers and healthcare professionals conduct critical appraisals of scientific literature. It supports internationally recognised assessment methodologies (e.g., PEDro, RoB 2, AMSTAR 2, CERT, ROBIS) and is intended to accelerate — not replace — the expert review process. The Service is provided on a subscription basis as described in Section 4.

3. Account Access & Management

Access to certain features requires creating an account. You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account and use the Service. By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate, current, and complete, and you undertake to keep it updated.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately at contact@scide-ai.com if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.

You may not create more than one account per person, share your account with third parties, or transfer it without our prior written consent.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

4.1 Plans

Scide AI is offered under two subscription plans:

  • Free — €0/month. Includes 3 analyses per month, access to all assessment tools, editor mode, and PDF export.
  • Premium — €20 incl. VAT/month. Includes unlimited single analyses, batch analysis (up to 10 batches/month, 15 PDFs per batch), Excel export, and full analysis history.

Prices are stated inclusive of all applicable taxes. We reserve the right to modify pricing at any time; any change will be communicated at least 30 days in advance and will apply only upon renewal of your subscription.

4.2 Billing & Automatic Renewal

The Premium subscription is billed monthly in advance. Payment is processed automatically on the same day of each month, using the payment method on file. By subscribing, you expressly authorise Scide AI to charge the recurring amount until you cancel. You will receive a billing receipt by email after each successful charge.

Payment processing is handled by DodoPayments. We do not store your payment card details on our servers. In the event of a failed payment, your subscription may be suspended until the payment is resolved.

4.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time via the billing portal accessible from the pricing page, or by contacting us at contact@scide-ai.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain full Premium access until that date. No partial refund is issued for the remaining days of the current period, except as required by applicable law.

4.4 Refund Policy

Except where required by law (see Section 5 on the right of withdrawal), all payments are non-refundable once a billing period has commenced and the Service has been actively used. If you believe a charge was made in error, please contact us within 30 days of the charge.

5. Right of Withdrawal (EU & French Consumers)

Under Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code (implementing EU Directive 2011/83/EU), consumers normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of subscription.

However, pursuant to Article L221-28 (13°) of the French Consumer Code, you expressly acknowledge and agree that, by activating your subscription and accessing the Service immediately upon purchase, the performance of the Service begins before the expiry of the 14-day withdrawal period. You therefore expressly waive your right of withdrawal in accordance with applicable law.

If you do not wish to waive this right, do not activate or use the Service until the 14-day period has elapsed, and notify us of your withdrawal at contact@scide-ai.com within that period. In such a case, you will be reimbursed the full subscription amount within 14 days.

6. Important Notice on AI-Generated Content

The analyses produced by Scide AI are generated by large language models ("LLMs") and do not constitute professional scientific, medical, or clinical advice. They must never be treated as a substitute for peer review, expert consultation, or independent professional judgment.

Scide AI is a decision-support and educational tool only. Every output must be reviewed and validated by a qualified human professional before being relied upon. The final responsibility for any decision made on the basis of an analysis rests entirely with the user.

LLMs may produce errors, omissions, approximations, or plausible but factually incorrect statements ("hallucinations"). Users are responsible for cross-checking all results against the original source documents. Scide AI makes no representation as to the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI-generated content.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Scide AI and its developers expressly disclaim all liability for inaccuracies in generated reports and for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from their use in clinical, academic, research, or commercial contexts. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Service in the three (3) months preceding the claim.

7. Ownership of Outputs

You retain full ownership of the documents you upload to the Service ("Input Content") and of the analysis reports generated by the Service on the basis of your inputs ("Outputs"). Scide AI claims no intellectual property rights over your Input Content or your Outputs.

You grant Scide AI a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process your Input Content solely for the purpose of delivering the Service to you. This licence does not extend to any other use, including training AI models (see Section 9).

8. Prohibited Uses & Ethical Obligations

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms. The following uses are strictly prohibited:

  • Generating, distributing, or publishing content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or that infringes any third-party rights.
  • Using the Service to produce or disseminate scientific disinformation, falsified study appraisals, or deliberately misleading research summaries.
  • Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with security features of the Service, including rate limits and access controls.
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract the source code or underlying AI models of the Service.
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or commercialising access to the Service without our prior written consent.
  • Using automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to access the Service in a manner that exceeds normal usage.
  • Uploading content that contains malware, viruses, or any code designed to disrupt or damage the Service or its users.
  • Using the Service to make clinical decisions in an emergency or life-critical context without appropriate human oversight.

Violation of these obligations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account (see Section 11) and may expose you to civil or criminal liability.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service — including its interface, design, source code, algorithms, brand, logo, and all associated documentation — constitutes the exclusive intellectual property of Scide AI or its licensors and is protected under French and international intellectual property law. Any reproduction, representation, adaptation, or exploitation, in whole or in part, without prior written authorisation is strictly prohibited.

The assessment methodologies available on the platform (PEDro, RoB 2, AMSTAR 2, CERT, ROBIS, etc.) are the property of their respective creators and organisations. Scide AI is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, any of these organisations.

10. Processing of Input Data

Documents and files you upload are transmitted to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude) for the sole and exclusive purpose of generating the requested analysis. Scide AI does not use your Input Content to fine-tune, retrain, or improve any AI model, and does not share your inputs with other users.

Your Input Content is processed transiently and is not stored beyond what is technically necessary to deliver the analysis. Analysis results (Outputs) may be saved to your account history if you are a Premium subscriber and have enabled this feature.

To deliver the Service, we rely on the following sub-processors:

  • Clerk — authentication and user account management
  • Convex, Inc. — real-time database and backend infrastructure
  • DodoPayments — payment processing and subscription management
  • Google LLC (Gemini) — AI-powered document analysis

Each sub-processor operates under its own terms of service and privacy policy. For full details on how your personal data is handled, please consult our Privacy Policy.

11. Service Availability & Limitation of Liability

We strive to maintain the Service available 24/7 but provide no guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free access. Planned maintenance, updates, infrastructure failures, or events beyond our reasonable control (including failures of third-party AI providers) may cause temporary disruptions. We will endeavour to communicate planned downtime in advance where possible.

Scide AI shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from: (i) the temporary unavailability of the Service; (ii) delays or errors caused by third-party sub-processors; (iii) force majeure events including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, government actions, cyberattacks, or telecommunication failures.

In the event of a force majeure lasting more than 30 consecutive days, either party may terminate the subscription for the affected period without penalty. Any prepaid amounts relating to the period of unavailability will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

12. Account Suspension & Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account, with or without prior notice, in the event of: (i) a material breach of these Terms; (ii) conduct that we reasonably consider harmful or abusive toward the Service or its users; (iii) fraudulent, illegal, or unethical use of the Service; or (iv) non-payment of due amounts.

Where a suspension is imposed for a reason other than payment failure, we will endeavour to notify you of the grounds and give you a reasonable opportunity to remedy the situation before termination, unless the breach is so serious that immediate action is required.

13. Amendments to these Terms

We may amend these Terms at any time. Where changes are material, we will notify you by email or via an in-app banner at least 30 days before the new version takes effect. If you do not agree to the amended Terms, you may cancel your subscription before the effective date and discontinue use of the Service. The version in force is always the one published at this address, bearing the "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page.

14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed exclusively by French law, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

In the event of a dispute, the parties agree to first seek an amicable resolution by contacting us at contact@scide-ai.com. If no agreement is reached within 30 days, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent French courts.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you also have the right to use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. Contact

For any questions, complaints, or requests relating to these Terms, please contact us at contact@scide-ai.com. We will endeavour to respond within 5 business days.

By creating an account or using Scide AI, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, and that the performance of the Service may begin immediately upon subscription, resulting in the waiver of your right of withdrawal as set out in Section 5.
